Honoring Dr. Ngozi Ezike, AB ‘94, former Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health

The Harvard Club of Chicago cordially invites all alumni and your guests to join us for our 55th Annual Award Dinner on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 5pm at The Chicago Club. 


2023 KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Penny Pritzker, AB ’81 and Senior Fellow of the Harvard Corporation
Penny Pritzker is the founder and Chairman of PSP Partners and its affiliates, Pritzker Realty Group, PSP Capital, and PSP Growth. From June 2013 through January 2017, she served as U.S. Secretary of Commerce in the Obama Administration.

Ms. Pritzker is an entrepreneur, civic leader, and philanthropist, with more than 30 years of experience in numerous industries. In addition to her work at PSP Partners, Ms. Pritzker launched a number of other businesses over the course of her career, which included founding Vi Senior Living (formerly known as Classic Residence by Hyatt), and co-founding The Parking Spot, Artemis Real Estate Partners, and Inspired Capital Partners. Ms. Pritzker is a member of the boards of Microsoft Corporation, DEPT and Icertis.  She is also the former executive chairman of the board of TransUnion and is a past board member of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, Marmon Group, and LaSalle Bank Corporation.

Ms. Pritzker serves as President Biden’s Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery.  In July of 2022, Ms. Pritzker was elected as the Senior Fellow (chair) of the Harvard Corporation and is the first woman to hold the position. In addition to those roles, Ms. Pritzker is a member of the Aspen Strategy Group and Aspen Economic Strategy Group, member of the Obama Foundation Board, and co-chair of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum Advisory Council.

Ms. Pritzker previously served as chairman of the board of trustees of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, cofounder, and board chair of Chicago-based civic-tech organization P33. She also was formerly a member of the board of the Council on Foreign Relations, the board of trustees of Stanford University, the Harvard University Board of Overseers, and founded Skills for America’s Future. Ms. Pritzker also served on President Biden’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, and his Economic Recovery Advisory Board.

Ms. Pritzker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Harvard University and a Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University. Ms. Pritzker and her husband, Dr. Bryan Traubert, co-founded the Pritzker Traubert Foundation, a private philanthropic foundation that works to foster increased economic opportunity for Chicago’s families. 2023 HONOREE

Dr. Ngozi Ezike, AB ’94
Ngozi Ezike is the President and CEO of Sinai Chicago, the city's largest private safety net health system, a role she has held since June 2022. She is the immediate past Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), where she valiantly navigated the state through the most difficult waves of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Dr. Ezike is a board-certified internist and pediatrician, who worked at Cook County Health, serving for more than 15 years in various direct patient care and administrative roles, including medical directorships at the Austin Health Center and Juvenile Temporary Detention Center. She also delivered inpatient care at Stroger Hospital and primary and preventive care in community and school-based clinics.

Dr. Ezike graduated with honors from Harvard College (Concentration: Chemistry, Housing: Weld/Cabot) and the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She earned a business management certificate from Harvard Business School and holds honorary doctorates from Knox College, Southern Illinois University, and Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine.


Dr. Ezike is a nationally recognized healthcare and public health leader fueled with a passion for health equity.  She is the recipient of dozens of awards and accolades including the Motorola Civic Service Award, the Jane Addams Medal of Freedom, the Lester H. McKeever Service Award from the Urban League, and USA Today's Inaugural Women of the Year Award for the State of Illinois.
An advocate for promoting self-care and healthy living, particularly in challenging times, Dr. Ezike is an avid tennis player and enjoys traveling with her husband and four children.


We are offering individual tickets as well as opportunities to support the Club and our Harvard community through Patron, Benefactor (table), and individual Sponsor tickets.

  • STARTER: Lobster Bisque or Mixed Greens Salad

  • ENTREE: Grilled Branzino, Grilled Chicken Breast, or Eggplant Parmesan

  • Individual tickets: $175 members; $200 non-members; $75 recent grad members (college classes 2018-2023).

  • Patron: $300 — purchase by 10/30 to be listed/recognized in the event program

  • Benefactor: $3000 (table of 8) — purchase by 10/30 to be listed/recognized in the event program

  • Sponsor ticket: $175 for a member of our Harvard community who may not have the resources to attend— purchase by 10/30 to be listed/recognized in the event program
