Clouds In My Coffee: The Trailblazing Music of Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Carly Simon
Tony-winning orchestrator Ted Sperling highlights three historic singer-songwriters—Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Carly Simon—with new orchestral arrangements of their music in this specially curated program. Fifty years ago, these talented musicians channeled the changing roles of women into pop classics that expanded the genre and established deeply personal styles that have resonated across generations, from contemporary fans to star musicians of today who continue to cite them as inspiration. Featured songs include “Both Sides Now,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” and “You’re So Vain” among many other favorites.

Attendees should plan on bringing – or purchasing - their own food and beverages, as well as bringing a blanket, tarp or chairs, as we’ll be sitting on the lawn. Attendees are encouraged to bring extra food to share with other attendees!
Look for HCC alums on the lawn in the northeast section of Ravinia Park, near the Opus Gate entrance. Any alums who live near Ravinia and can arrive at 5pm to help secure lawn space would be appreciated.
